Jesus Christ set forth the example of a good shepherd, one who watches over, cares for and guides those in need. It is the work of Good Shepherd Children & Family Services to keep the children in our care safe, to help them heal, to provide them the skills for self care and connect them with those who will provide support throughout their lives.

RECESS 2010 was a first-time event for Good Shepherd Children & Family Services and for St. Louis!
150 guests came out to play! They rode the mechanical surfboard, wrestled like sumos, jousted, raced on tricycles, gurled through the air on the bungee run, competed on Wii and a whole lot more.
Many, many thanks to our sponsors, a phenomenal committee chaired by Katie Schenck, our Board of Directors and all of the participants. A favorite quote from the night ... "I was having so much fun on the games I didn't want to stop and eat!" ... we're used to hearing that from kids at a carnival but not so much from 40-somethings at a fundraiser!
We'll be announcing the date for RECESS 2011 shortly!

Central to a quality residential program is the involvement of many caring adults who are willing to share their gifts and interests with the youth in care. These experiences expose our residents to new creative outlets, career options and healthy lifestyle choices. Even more importantly, the active participation of volunteers lets our residents know that there are people in the world who care about them.
