Our Mission
Connecting Children with Families and Keeping Families Connected
Jesus Christ set forth the example of a good shepherd, one who watches over, cares for and guides those in need. It is the work of Good Shepherd Children & Family Services to keep the children in our care safe, to help them heal, to provide them the skills for self care and connect them with those who will provide support throughout their lives.

Local Groups Take Action and Make a Difference |
|
|
Over the past few months several generous groups and organizations have
made a real difference in the lives of the foster youth of Good
Shepherd. All the creative ways they help could make for a great
reality show series!
Some take on a real hands-on approach, like the Altrusa Club of St.
Louis whose membership of professional women put together Back-to-School
Backpacks filled with school supplies for each young person in
community or residential foster care. Others use their voices to raise
funds for Good Shepherd teens, like the women’s auxiliary of the Knights
of St. Peter Claver known as the Ladies of Grace. They staged a
concert featuring local gospel music talent called Gospel-tality as
their way of getting involved. Every Year the May Family holds a family
reunion horseshoe-throwing tournament at their family called the May
Cup and this year the proceeds were given to Good Shepherd. The
Thessalonian Mission Baptist Church held a roller skating outreach event
and hosted Good Shepherd foster youth to Skate for the Kingdom.
Two organizations made real tangible differences two the Good Shepherd Maternity facility. The staff and volunteers of Rebuilding Together St. Louis and their corporate sponsor partner Cricket did a near-total makeover, including a brand new kitchen and new carpet and furniture in the bedrooms for the young moms and babies in residence. They also created a brand new look for the recreation room in the main residence facility.
The St. Louis Sports Commission and the women of the Wittenberg University Tigers Volleyball Team from Springfield, Ohio teamed up to complete the job by painting two rooms in the Maternity facility. They just happened to be in town for the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Tournament at Washington University. Their work for Good Shepherd was inspiring. They won the championship – the first in Wittenberg history! Their coach Paco Labrador, who also painted, was named Division III Coach of the Year!
How do you want to get involved and make a real difference for Good Shepherd kids?
