History

Merging to better serve children.

In 2006, the Boards of Directors of four[SS1]  agencies operating under the auspices of Catholic Charities voted to merge with the intention of forming a more efficient system for delivering much-needed services to children and families in St. Louis and surrounding areas.

The newly merged entity was originally incorporated as Catholic Services for Children & Youth and in July 2007 the name was changed to Good Shepherd Children & Family Services.

The original four agencies – Catholic Services for Children & Youth, Fr. Dunne’s Newsboys Home, St Joseph’s Home & Family Services, and Marian Hall (including its maternity shelter program, Villa Maria)- had a rich history of providing quality services that dates back to 1831 and continues today.

Good Shepherd Children & Family Services is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization licensed by the Missouri Department of Social Services, Children’s Division and accredited by The Joint Commission.
