In the Catholic faith tradition, Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Most certainly we celebrate the birth of Jesus in history (i.e., the birth of one who came to heal and save us). We also celebrate the coming of Jesus in the here and now—his birth into the world and also into our hearts, homes, and communities. In many regards, the world hasn’t changed much in the 2000+ years since the Nativity. The world is full of brokenness; it’s full of people in need of healing. It’s full of tragedy. However, people of all faith traditions know the end of the story. In the end, God wins. We know that despite its brokenness, the world is also full of love, joy, and hope. May this Christmas be a source of love, joy, and hope for you and your families. Thank you for all you do to support our mission and serve those in desperate need.
