How do I make a charitable tax credit donation to Good Shepherd?
The first step is to make your donation to Good Shepherd Children & Family Services. We will send you the appropriate application form for a 50% Missouri charitable tax credit. You return the signed application to us and we act as your agent with the State of Missouri who will process your application and send the tax credit certificate, following approval, directly to you to submit with your tax filing. The State usually processes your application within 30-60 days. All our available tax credits are for a 50% credit unless a reason is identified why your donation does not qualify under state or federal tax codes. Our available tax credits include Maternity Home that benefits our teen moms; Pregnancy Resource Center that benefits our pregnant or parenting clients in the community; or Youth Opportunity Program that benefits the education of our maternity teen moms and foster care youth. If you find it more convenient, you can make your stock donation through Catholic Charities, but be assured that we work closely with our Catholic Charities colleagues to serve you. Please call Mike Whelan, Development Director, at (314) 854-5705 with questions or for more information.

Can I make a gift of stock to Good Shepherd?
Yes. The most efficient course of action is to contact us for transfer information. You can share the information with your broker or financial advisor or use it for your application if you conduct your own trading with an online service. Your transaction starts with the Smith Moore brokerage firm who works with our agent in the St. Louis Archdiocese Finance Office. The Archdiocese ensures the productive and timely sale of the stock and the deposit into the Good Shepherd account. We will alert the Archdiocese to coordinate the processing of your transaction as smoothly as possible, including tax credit application if you wish. Again, please call Mike Whelan, Development Director, at (314) 854-5705.

Can I make a planned gift for Good Shepherd?
Yes. You can name Good Shepherd Children & Family Services in your will, annuity trust, remainder trust or any recognized bequest or estate plan of your choosing. We do not offer legal or financial services, so you should always consult the lawyer or financial management representative you trust to help you choose the plan that best meets your charitable interests and intentions. However, we can provide you with information about planned giving options and about the services that Good Shepherd provides our at-risk youth and troubled families. To get started, you guessed it, please call Mike Whelan, Development Director, at (314) 854-5705.
