A picture of ambassadorship….

Last Monday, the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Des Moines kicked off a project with its local St. Louis banking partners and Habitat for Humanity to build a home in University City.  As the Chair of the Board for FHLB Des Moines, our very own Dale Oberkfell saw this as a great opportunity to introduce some folks to Good Shepherd.  As it turns out, the build was right behind our campus.  In the end, we supplied use of the Family Center for a kickoff dinner attended by 30 or so FHLB and local bank personnel, as well as folks from Habitat for Humanity.  They brought in some local BBQ from Vernon’s, and Dale welcomed the group and told them a bit about the mission.  During dinner, we also toured the facility and answered questions about agency.  Aside from several donations from the FHLB and some its local member banks, we made new friends and had a chance to spread the word about Good Shepherd.  As a bonus, our Maternity clients benefitted from some great food the following day and for the remainder of the week, because the build team deliberately over ordered so that they could feed our kids.

Kudos to Dale for thinking of us and for setting the stage for such a nice event.
