A Season of Anticipation - Good Shepherd

Right now, the Catholic world is in the midst of Advent. It’s a time of reflection, but also of anticipation as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of the Nativity.

It reminds me of the many people Good Shepherd serves who spend a significant amount of time in anticipation, waiting for a life-changing moment on the horizon.

We’re grateful to sit with them when there may not be much peace in their lives. We’re here through the challenges as a guide and comfort, but we also get to be here when the waiting is over. Our happiest days are when a child hears a judge say they get to go home, when a mother excitedly packs her things and leaves our shelter for her very own place, when a family finally gets the call that their adoptive baby has been born.

We recently captured the stories of Good Shepherd clients who shared testimonials about what it’s like to wait with us. I invite you to watch the clip below and reflect on our universal desire for peace, hope, and a better day tomorrow. It’s this anticipation of something beyond what we see today and our faith in something greater that makes our seasons of waiting worth it.

Wishing you a happy season,

Kathy
